Communities Under Attack | Part 1 of 2: 05-20-15

On Wednesday May 20th from 5-8pm, the Quad City Federation of Labor, in conjunction with the University of Iowa Labor Center, will present a free community education program to the entire community at the Martin Luther King Jr Community Center in Rock Island, IL. Dinner will be provided for all in attendance. An RSVP is required by Friday May 15th.

All across America, including right here in the Quad Cities, working families, and those struggling to find work, are at the losing end of economic agenda that is designed to keep millions of people from achieving economic prosperity while concentrating our nation’s wealth in the hands of the 1%. When we allow nearly all corporations in America to pay nothing in income taxes, we say it’s OK to let the working and middle class shoulder the burden of paying for the maintenance of America.

The attacks on our communities all across America are numerous, destructive, and well-resourced. We win the fight for a good quality of life, good jobs, and good schools if we work together and demand change from our political institutions that have become so overwhelmingly corrupted by unlimited campaign financing that they no longer have the reason or the will to do the work of the people.

We begin by educating ourselves, and getting organized. Together we can at least win our own community back, and go on from there.
